introduction. hi, i'm sora, and welcome! my pronouns are she / her and i am 25+. this blog will be an independent portrayal of aelin ashryver galathynius from sjm's throne of glass series and will feature heavy spoilers, and a mixture of book canon and headcanon divergencies. i am mutually exclusive and will not write with anyone under the age of 18. my activity will vary - i do write on two other blogs, as well as working full time.
drama. this will be as simple as i can say it, there is no room for drama or negativity on this blog. i don't engage in call out culture, the exception being genuine predators in the community, and excessive posts with vagueing will earn an unfollow. please don't steal my headcanons or content, if you like something i write as a headcanon and want to apply it for your own portrayal, just ask me.
duplicates. this blog is duplicate friendly. i have no issues with other portrayals of my muse, she's a gorgeous character and if you'd like to follow or even reblog some of the content i reblog from others, that's completely fine with me. i don't tend to enter competitions with other writers, i don't plan to start now. however, playing games isn't something i tend to enjoy, so if i make you uncomfortable, it is on you to block me.
mains & exclusives. i'm absolutely down. i will be honest and say i love writing partners that will be the ones i defer to when referring to that particular character. exclusives will happen more rarely, and far more selective, mostly when i can't see myself interacting with another form of that character.
interacting. if i do not follow you back, we will not be interacting. i am not going to be writing with minors for my own comfort level. if you follow me, i am always happy to continue threads from prompts or asks, and we do not need to be interacting for you to send anything my way or to like my posts for starter calls, etc. i do have crossover verses and am happy to work with anyone i write with to ensure we both enjoy ourselves.
triggers. this portrayal will feature heavy discussions about torture and trauma, though i do endeavor to tag everything appropriately. there will be no romanticising of ptsd on this blog - triggering aelin for purposes of cute/shippy headcanons will earn a blocking. my own triggers involve the usual, but i do ask anyone tag posts about actual world events, etc. i like keeping this as an escape.
shipping. while i love a ship as much as the next person, i will need some degree of banter or plotting for ships to occur. aelin is demi-sexual and while gender does not matter to her, she requires an emotional connection with her partners. sex may happen, usually it will be tagged appropriately. if you believe we will have chemistry, don't hesitate to ask - in all forms of canon where book plots are followed, aelin will marry rowan whitethorn.

aelin is described as being notably beautiful, with long golden hair initially down to her naval, later cropped after battle with the valg. possess ashryver eyes which are described as bright turquoise with golden rings around the pupils, found only in her own family line. in her fae form, she has pointed ears and sharp canines, as well as shifting to be taller and slightly leaner. in human form, she stands at 5'7'' with a lithe and toned physique, and well developed curves. she has many scars across her body, though she loses these after torture at the hands of cairn. initially these were across her back from the whippings at endovier, palm from her promise to nehemia, carranam scar from her bond with rowan, and various other markings from battle. she also had five tattoos to describe how she lost her loved ones - including her parents, lady marion lochlan, her people, sam cortland, and nehemia.

fire magic. her main type of magic, manifesting at a young age. trained extensively with rowan at misward to control it. can shape her fire to shields, daggers, even a rose. was able to set doranelle's rivers steaming, and turn a wave of deadly glass shards into a glass wall to save the people of rifthold. can burn opponent's internal organs and burn them inside out by breathing at them. managed to take out an army of 500 ilken with her fire abilities. canon post k.o.a. she is left with only an ember of fire magic.
moon fire. when delving deep into her fire magic at skulls bay, she unconsciously allowed her magic to touch the amulet of orynth. the wyrdkey opened a door to another realm, where the goddess of the moon was watching. the goddess deanna then possessed aelin and took control of her body, magic, and rowan's magic through the bond. she proceeded to convert aelin's fire magic to moon-fire, described as being the cold white of the stars, so cold it would burn. this burned through anti-magic physical properties, as evident when she burned through the iron encasing aelin's hand.
near unlimited magic. initially, aelin believed her magic well was as great as brannon galathynius, her ancestor. several times through the series, she believes she has found the bottom of her abilities. she eventually discovers her magic is as great as mala fire-bringer's due to her being her heir and descendent. we see a brief burn out and well drained after she obliterated 500 ilken, allowing maeve to capture her. in k.o.a. aelin dives into her magic for three months straight to build an inferno to kill maeve, used to stop a tidal wave from destroying anielle. eventually when forging the lock against the gods later in the book, she loses her mortal body, her fire magic, and is left with only a drop of water magic. as a final parting gift, mala fire-bringer gifts her with an ember of fire magic.
water magic. able to manipulate water - as shown when a pebble-sized droplet of water was lifted in h.o.f. and in e.o.s. when she spun rivulets of water within a river in terrasen. can be wielded weakly due to dimming bloodline from its source, her great-grandmother mab. canon post k.o.a. evalin tells aelin it reminds the bearer of their salvation and self-preservation, and as such she inherits a drop of this magic, which can be used to heal others and herself much stronger than most fae standard healing abilities.
wyrd magic. aelin has learned to use wyrdmarks, an ancient runic language used to perform magic and cast spells the spells generated from wyrdmarks are able to use without magic present since the wyrd governs all life. nehemia showed aelin her use of wyrdmarks and stated these use the power stored in the blood - those with dormant magic in their veins can use their power to generate them, though there is a limit to how much can be used. throughout the series, aelin uses wyrdmarks - notably for unlocking doors, binding spells, protection spells, portal generation, and locking spells.
